【The analysis of teaching material】
The content of selected teaching material is Four seasons. It is taken from Yilin Primary English book 3, unit 5. After learning this lesson, students will be able to describe four seasons by using the new words and sentences.
【The analysis of students】
Students in Primary school have learned English for just few years, they have some basic simple English surroundings, but it is still vary difficult for them to memorize some knowledge in short time. At the same time, they are curious and active,but their attention can be scattered easily, so I will design some interesting activities to attract their attention.
【The analysis of teaching objectives】
Based on the analysis of teaching material and New Curriculum Standard, I set following three teaching objectives.
1. Knowledge objective: Students will be able to read and write the new words like summer,winter,autumn...
2. Ability objective: By practicing, students will know how to describe the season they like in daily life..
3. Emotional objective: By doing various activities, students’ interest of learning English will be fostered.
【The analysis of teaching key& difficult point】
Besides, to help to achieve my teaching objectives, the teaching Key & Difficult points are as follows:
Key point: the understanding and the spelling of the new words.
Difficult point: the usage of the words and sentences in real situation.
【Teaching method】
As we all know, by using teaching method, students can learn better and be the real host in class, so in this class, I will mainly use Situational teaching Method and Communicative Approach to arouse their interest.
【Study method】
As for learning methods, I will lead my students to use Independent study method and Cooperation study method to study initiatively.
【Teaching procedures】
Step1: Warming-up & Lead-in
At the beginning of the class, after greeting my students, I will sing a song named Four Seasons to my students, it is like this...at the same time, I will ask them to tell what they have heard in the song. In the song, there are some words about four seasons like spring, summer, autumn, winter...so in this way I can lead in the topic today. At the same time, a nice learning atmosphere will be created.(后期如果大家比较熟悉的话可以同时演示你的导入)
Step2: Pre-listening
In pre-listening part, to help my students understand and review the meaning of the words
better, I will show them some pictures about four seasons and ask them to guess which season they are , for example, In the first picture, there are some beautiful flowers and in the second picture there are some green trees...so they can easily recognize each season very picture reflects,“spring” and “summer”. Then I will show them the other pictures one by one like this. So in this way, I can introduce the meaning of the new words one by one easily. Then, I will lead them to read the words to correct their pronunciation. By showing them pictures, students can understand the meaning of the words deeply and they can be more interested in class.
Step3: While-listening
In this part, to help students grasp the listening material completely, I will ask my students listen to the tape twice. For the first time listening, they have to summarize the main idea of the listening material, and tell me the answer, that is the different characteristics of four seasons and what we can do in each season. This activity is to help them get a general understanding of this lesson.
Then for the second time listening, they have to listen to the tape carefully and grasp some details in the passage. At the same time, finish the true or false exercises. On the PPT, here are some statements about the detailed information of the passage, after listening, they will judge whether they are true or false and tell me the reason. The statements are like this “we go boating in autumn; spring is hot… Meanwhile, I will emphasize the sentence pattern and the key words in this lesson like this “if you want to express what you do in each season you can say, spring is warm, we fly a kite.”After this activity, they can be very familiar with the text and totally understand the content of the passage.
Step4: Post-listening
Post-listening is an indispensable part of this lesson because students can use the words and sentence patterns they have learned skillfully. In order to make them master the sentences, I will set competition activities. For example, I divide the whole class into two groups —Red group and Black group. This can help students practice the knowledge more actively.
The first activity is reading the text. The group read it correctly and loudly will get one point.
The second activity is to make a dialogue. They will have 10 minutes to have a free talk about their favorite seasons. Then every group will be chosen a pair of students to show their dialogue in front of class. The better one will reward one point for their group. This can improve their speaking and cooperating ability. And consolidate what they have learned in the class.
Step5: Summary&homework
In the end, I will guide the student to conclude what we have learned today. I will invite some students to tell us. They may tell us in this class, we have learned how to express four seasons and talk about what we do in each season.
For homework, I have prepared two tasks for them: the first one is to read the passage after class. The second one is to draw a picture about their favorite season and describe it next class.
